The Wonewoc Area Soccer League (WASL) started as a small town team about 25 years ago. Over time, the league has expanded to include the communities of the surrounding areas including: Hillsboro, Elroy, Kendall, LaValle, Cazenovia, Ontario, and Union Center. In the 2011 season, more than 270 youth participated in the league and ranged in age from 4-18 years old. The league is entirely operated by volunteers. To generate funds for equipment and scholarships, the league holds an annual fundraiser.
WASL has always been a fall sport however, it has always had stiff competition from other fall sports. So the 2011 season was switched to a spring league making the sport more accessible to a wider range of athletes. WASL strives to teach good sportsmanship, fair play, and the joy of team competition to each player.
If you are interested in joining WASL, either as an athlete or a volunteer, we would love to have you! Check out our Join Us and Members pages for more information.
